Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Yur driver guide will pick you up from Kigali airport or your hotel in Kigali and drive north westwrdas to Volcanoes National park, home to to 10 gorilla families. Enjoy the 3 hours scenic drive through the endless rolling hills of Rwanda. Dinner and overnght stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/ Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking
In the early morning, have breakfast and with your packed lunch drive to Kinigi Park headquarters for registration and briefing about gorilla trekking rules and regulations. You will be put in groups of eight and allocated a gorilla family to visit. At 8:00 am, start off the hike to meet the gentle giants. Spend an hour with gorillas, embrace their human-like characters and have fun. Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/ Da Vinci Gorilla Lodge
Day 3: Transfer to Gisenyi- Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive southwestwards to Gisenyi. Relax at the shores of Lake Kivu and thereafter proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe hilltop View/ One and only Nyungwe House
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking & Canopy walk
Wake up early, have breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to the park headquarters of Nyungwe forest for briefing and registration. Chimpanzee trekking is done in the main forest or Cyamudongo forest but all experiences are worth the effort. Spend an hour with the chimpanzee community, take pictures, learn their behaviors and enjoy this magical encounter. In the afternoon, join the canopy walk to enjoy the aerial views of the forest, Virunga volcanoes, and neighbouring communities. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe hilltop View/ One and only Nyungwe House
Day 5: Transfer to Akagera National park
Get up, have breakfast, check out depart to Akagera National Park home to the big five game. Have a stopover at Nyanza kings Palace and enjoy this 6 hours scenic drive. Dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge/ Ruzizi Tented Camp
Day 6: Game viewing & boat cruise at Lake Ihema
In the early morning, go for game viewing in the open plains of Akagera National park. The game reserve is home to the big five games (Elephants, lions, buffalos, rhinos and hippos) plus many other animals which include Giraffes, Waterbucks, Warthogs, Elands and Topis among others. In the afternoon, join a boat cruise at Lake Ihema and watch out for numerous bird species on the shores of the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge/ Ruzizi Tented Camp
Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to Kigali for your connecting flight.
