Gorilla habituation experience is an act of training wild mountain gorillas to make them familiar with people before they are open for trekking. The experimental nativity only takes place in the Rushaga sector in the southern region of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Unlike in the normal 2 Days Uganda gorilla trek where travelers spend strictly an hour with gorillas, habituation experience allow travelers to spend four hours with the endangered gorillas. Also, the number of people allowed in gorilla habituation experience is 4 people compared to 8 people allowed in trekking. Apparently Bushaho and Bikingi gorilla families are undergoing habituation hence only 8 permits available
You are required to have a gorilla habituation permit costing $1500 each.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Bwindi Forest
In the early morning, our driver-guide will pick you up from Entebbe international airport or your hotel in Kampala and drive south-westwards to Bwindi Forest in Kabale. Stop at Uganda equator for picnic photos and have a lunch stop in Mbarara at Igongo Cultural Centre. This full day’s scenic drive offers you the best views of Ankole plains, farms and the kigezi rolling hills making your pre trekking experience wonderful. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Safari Lodge/ Ichumbi Lodge/ Gorilla Valley Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Habituation
Gorilla Habituation experience
Today you wake up early, have breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to Rushaga park headquarters for registration and briefing about the dos and don’t of gorilla habituation experience. You will be put in groups of four and allocated a gorilla family to visit. Trekking starts at 8:00 am with a hike into the jungle in search of wild gorillas.
On meeting them, breathe in, keep calm and enjoy four hours in the company of gorillas. Take pictures, imitate their behaviors, capture live videos and enjoy this lifetime experience. The trekking time may last between 30 minutes to a full day depending on where gorillas will be that day. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Safari Lodge/ Ichumbi Lodge/ Gorilla Valley Lodge.
Day 3: Departure
After breakfast, check out and cross Cyanika border to Kigali Rwanda for our connecting flight.
